Berkeley, Peace and Rock n' Roll.

With the Martin Luther King Holiday this weekend, Sally Alessandro and I drove up to Berkeley. It's only fitting since Berkeley holds a prominent place in the political landscape of modern America. The activists weren't out in force yesterday, but the campus was alive as was nearby Telegraph Avenue and it's myriad of hippie street vendors. Above you can see both Sather Gate and Tower.

The Golden Bears, the symbol of California is this UCB's mascot. Pity there aren't any to be seen. Beside the statue another furry, but cuter, native critter. The bells of the Sather Tower Carillon (note spelling). Apparently the spelling and pronunciation of Carillon as in the University of Sydney Carillion is a mistake, as is Carillion Avenue in Newtown, and the National Carillion in Canberra!

The awesome view atop of Sather Tower. The University of California Berkeley campus is directly below, in the distance on the left is San Francisco city, to the right [north] is Marin county. (I'll provide a hires version soon)...

To get the word out in Berkeley; staple it to a light pole. Are you Fiat Lux or Fiat Slug? ...Either way dude, peace.
